THE PURSUIT
The Pursuit is a navigation event that rewards teamwork, strategy and common sense. Its is fast-paced and fun to complete. Teams race to complete a number of challenges. Teams must prioritise their goals (a team can not reach all the checkpoints within the timeframe), determine which are achievable and which have the best value for their desired outcome. The Pursuit is a practice in business planning, strategy creation, action plans, responsilbity and team work. The objective is to collect the highest score by finding checkpoints within a set time limit (it is not possible to reach all checkpoints within the time frame). Teams navigate with the aid of aerial photographs, maps, an analogue compass, waypoints and common sense. Teams select their own order of visiting checkpoints, in terrain that varies from open countryside to surrounding suburbs to the beach to the surrounding bush. The Pursuit allows individuals to opt in/out of the opportunities presented and still contribute to team overall success ie it doesn't favour the physically fit; the more creative; etc ut rewards true team effort across the board. The Pursuit aims to support and encourage people to develop respect for and enjoyment of the environment; and to encourage the development of navigational skills, self reliance, general fitness, and the ability to work in a team.
